Condition: Heavily worn vintage 1964 red cloth hardcover with noticeable staining and discoloration to boards, fraying at spine ends and corners, foxing and age-toning to page edges and some interior pages, no dust jacket; binding still holding and pages turn normally.

Classic red cloth binding with blind-stamped front cover device and Borzoi logo on the back board, gilt spine lettering mostly dulled and rubbed.
Mustard endpapers and chocolate-brown topstain consistent with early Knopf printings of this title.
Original black and white illustrations by Joseph Schindelman throughout, including the early depiction of the Oompa Loompas.
