power supply BS275 Tesla from 50's
I use a laboratory power supply as a power source for speaker field coils.
You can see this in my video.
Two speakers Telefunken are connected, each with a coil resistance of 1600 ohms.
It is used to advantage for energizing various appliances,
e. g. in repair routine work or in laboratories for energizing some
experimental parts or assemblies in research and development work, etc.
The power supply TESLA BS 275 is one of the basic instruments
representing the most necessary equipment of every
working place in the field of electrical engineering.
FUNCTIONING:
The power supply TESLA BS 275 consists
of two independently variable D. C. sources A and B, and an independent
source of A. C. heating voltages C (Fig. 3).
The power supply can be interconnected either in parallel,
in series or in opposite voltage sense, thus enabling an
output voltage practically of from 0 up to 700 V to be obtained.
Both power supplies are stabilized.
Means of pointer-type measuring instrument on the front
panel, the instrument being
connected either to one or the
other power supply by means of
the change-over switch P2 (Fig.1)
SPECIFICATION:
D. C. output voltage: From 0 to 700 V
A) Source A or B connected independently:
1) Output voltage: 200 - 350 V with consumption up
70 mA at a mains voltage of 220 V
2) Internal resistance at 300 V < 2 Ohm
3) A change in mains voltage by ± 10% involves a
change in output voltage less than 1.5 V at an output
voltage of 300 V
4) Ripple of the output voltage 300 V: < 10 mV
B) Sources A and B connected in series:
A voltage of from 400 V to 700 V is obtained by connecting the D. C. sources in series:
Uoutput = UA + UB. Admissible maximum current 70 mA
at a mains voltage of 220 V.
C) Sources A and B connected in opposite voltage sense:
A voltage of from 0 to 200 V is achieved by connecting
the two sources in opposite voltage sense.
Stabilization at U output = 0 - 200V depends on setting the sources
A and B, the U output being equal to UA - UB.
D) Sources A and B connected in parallel:
A current supply of up to 140 mA at U output = 200
350 V at a mains voltage of 220 V can be attained by
connecting the D. C. sources in parallel, where the interconnection of the terminals should be carried out
through protecting resistors. Resistance values ranging
from 50 to 100 ohms are recommended.
Heating voltages and currents:
4 V/3 A mаx.
6.3 V/2 A max.
6.3 V/2 A max.
12.6 V/1 A max.
The heating voltages have a tolerance
of ± 10% and are not stabilized.
Tube complement: 2×AZ4, 2×6L50, 2×6F36, 2×12TA31
The tubes are new or in high potential.
The device works very well.
Power supply: 220 V or 120 V, 50 c/s, A. C. mains
Consumption: 280 W with admissible maximum load
Dimensions:
Width: 195 mm
Height: 270 mm
Depth: 345 mm
Weight: 17 kg
Connecting to the mains
The power supply BS275 is connected to a 220 V
or 120 V, 50 c/s mains by means of the connecting cable supplied as an accessory with the instrument.
The device is fully functional, but the item is over 65 years old.
I do not guarantee safe delivery and I am selling this as "not working", but in good condition!
