USSR WWII Medal for Bravery (Courage), serial number 64447,
researched, awarded in 1942 to a rifleman. From the report of the 44th Brigade (one page is in attachment), in this episode the Fatkino village was being defended by an understaffed battalion of 14 army men. The award citation reads:
Serving on the Western Front, comrade Aleksandrov killed up to 5 soldiers
during one of the engagements with the fascists. Here he was wounded, but he
continued firing until the end of the battle.
During the fighting for the village of Fatkino on June 27, 1942, comrade
Aleksandrov bravely repelled several enemy attacks, displaying fortitude and
courage in the process. He defended himself against the enemy, who attacked
with superior forces, and killed up to 12 fascists. Inflicting heavy losses
upon the enemy during a number of enemy attacks, the brave soldiers didn’t
surrender the village of Fatkino and continued keeping a solid defense.
