Working radio which we have had for 20 years. The Bakelite cabinet with attractive marbling does have a small crack in one corner of the case, see photos.
This is an early 1950s example (serial number 73/103808) with the correct dial glass, back panel and original features intact. A classic and very collectable post-war British radio.
Powers up and produces sound (low hum/hiss as valves warm)
Dial lamp illuminates
Controls operate normally
Original speaker cloth intact
Dial glass present and legible
The set is fitted with its original Celestion British-made speaker unit, factory-spec model:
Celestion Type: K6Q0 1754 (Made in England)
Original factory supply unit – not a replacement speaker.
As far as we know it is all original and certainly the valves we can read are Mullard, British made valves.
The radio powers on and receives stations with a good tone.
As with all vintage valve equipment of this age, it is sold as a collectible vintage electronic item.
Any future servicing, restoration, or capacitor replacement should be carried out by a qualified technician if intended for regular long-term use.
