The True Holly Grail Of Shohei Ohtani Autographed Cards From His Rookie 2018 Season!

While there is nothing that discloses if there are any other Panini autographed Father’s Day Card #60 editions, only 1 of Shohei batting and 1 of him pitching have shown up, so it is safe to say that they are both a 1 of 1 autograph editions.  The other autograph (Same Card #60) where he is pitching, received a PSA grade of 5, with a 9 auto, whereas this batting version is a BGS 9.5 with a 10 auto.  That makes this Ohtani a far more valuable version.  While it is so scarce, few have ever seen it, once collectors get to know it exists, it will only gain in popularity and with only 1 that will ever surface and thankfully in gem mint condition, it really does have the potential to be one of his most valuable cards, especially considering the popularity of the #60 Father’s day parallel editions.  It is hard to place a price on something this rare, but as an example the numbered to 50 editions of this card in the non-auto Gem mint graded condition have gone for about $900 in gem mint.  With this being the only auto, you would have to extrapolate the difference between by looking at what a card would cost when it has an edition that is 50 times more rare than the more frequently sold parallel 1 of 50 edition version.  If you look at numerous examples of a limited to 50 vs. a limited to 1, you will see that their is an average a value of 333 times more for 1/1 vs. the 1/50. You can verify this with numerous examples, such as the Mike Trout 5/5 Bowman card that in the same 9.5 with a 10 auto sold for about a million, while around that same time the 50 times less rare version numbered to 250, sold for around $3,000.  Using that formula, that would make this card valued at $299,700 by today’s scarcity calculations.  However, those were both autograph editions, where as this one is the only autograph in this parallel set, which could make it infinity more valuable.  If you think about it, the fact that it was not numbered and therefore went unnoticed, even though it may be the only one in existence, makes this card much more interesting, since it harkens back to the Honus Wagner short print days where it wasn't intentional to come out with a scarce edition, but discovering it makes it all that greater of a find.  Still, whether this card turns out to be worth millions in the very near future or it takes longer to achieve that kind of return on your money, with the way Ohtani can hit, pitch and steal, he may even surpass Babe Ruth's legacy and either way, this incredibly dynamic and scarce rookie card may turn out to be the greatest investment in the modern error.
