The V-42 was designed specifically for the First Special Service Force of WWII — “The Devil’s Brigade” — a joint Canadian/American unit formed to operate behind enemy lines. The V-42 is still featured in the official badges of the Canadian Special Operations Command and the US Special Forces.

The handle of compressed leather discs ends in a pointed impact cap. A thick leather padding underneath the slightly curved pommel prevents injury. The double-edged blade is coated SK-85 carbon steel and features a corrugated thumb rest in the ricasso area.
