Up for sale from my collection is this very rare British made Royal Australian Air Force officer's great coat. It was made in August 1943 by the well respected outfitters, Austin Reed of Regent Street. It was not unusual for RAAF aircrew to privately purchase their uniforms from English tailors when serving in the UK during the war.

Very few of these great coats have survived and they very rarely come up for sale. This one is in good vintage condition with very little wear. It has a few moth nips which I have photographed, but nothing serious. Everything is original to the coat apart from the wing commander's rank insignia. It was originally ranked to a flight lieutenant. The lining is in very condition. I can see no repairs to the stitching.

Measurements with the coat buttoned up and laid flat: armpit to armpit: 21.5", across the shoulders: 18.5", sleeves from shoulder to end of cuff: 24.5", waist: 20" and length: 52".
