Hi, The minidisc units that I am selling from my personal collection (I am not a trader) have all had a cosmetic polish and scratch removal using professional products to get as close to the original finish as possible.

What can I say, absolutely superb. Pretty much like it was just lifted out of it's box from new. It still blows me away that Sony made the first ever inroads into the mass market with this unit. This is one of the first editions released in 1997 and still sounding incredible. I purchased this MZ-1 from a collector as a fully serviced unit around 10 years ago. Please study my detailed photo's for condition and check out the operational video. I am including a brand new 3D printed battery adapter & batteries. The original PSU is only 1A @ 18watts and due to the high mAh of the batteries I recommend using the supplied brand new charger for the rechargeable batteries and not charge the pack inside the machine so as not to put to much strain on the vintage electronics. I have ordered 2x lower mAh batteries (to match the original output) which should arrive in a few days. Internal charging has been fully tested & operational but the PSU gets a little hot for my liking when using the 2x 3000mAh batteries hence the included external charger which solves that issue to prolong the functionality of this lovely machine.

The MZ-1 plays MD's without issue and all buttons for features and disc transport work perfectly. I tested the recording to disc using various MD's and when I used a disc which I erased previously on a different machine, occasionally it came up with disc error. As soon as I record just 1s of audio on the same discs, the MZ-1 recorded and saved to TOC perfectly. I don't know whether it is the vintage technology or the age of this machine but I have successfully recorded a couple of vinyl albums & CD's which saved without any issues and sounded fantastic.

The back-lit (when on mains power) screen is crystal clear and the txt still has fantastic contrast. The loading and eject mechanism have been fully tested, I did find a couple of times when a disc is inserted it wouldn't power up but I have cleaned the tiny internal pin switch with contact cleaner and that seems to have solved that issue straight away. Like with all these vintage machines the more you use them the better they function especially after not being used for ages hence the saying "use them or loose them". The original case and PSU are also in superb condition.

I will test the internal charging with the lower mAh capacity when they arrive and update this listing also I will include those batteries in this sale so you will have two sets.
