Vintage Mattel ‘Tutti’ 6” Doll with Winter Coat 1965

Nostalgic for the 1960s? I have listed a small collection of toys from this halcyon era that I inherited from my aunt, who bought them as an adult to create a collection NEVER TO BE PLAYED WITH! She would not let me handle them, that’s for sure, and she never had children of her own. Each figure and set is in great shape as a result. There are Mattel dolls from the expanded Barbie line, G.I. Joes (sold) and her beloved Star Trek figures. I have been storing them for years and it’s time for someone to enjoy them – maybe creating you own shadowbox displays. The 6” bendable Tutti is Barbie’s little elementary-school-age sister. She’s in pristine condition and dressed for a winter outing – except there are no shoes. There may have been a fluffy white dog included, but not that I have ever seen. I don’t think my aunt would have tossed those accessories out, but she died in 1993 so I can’t ask her. Tutti has lustrous long brown hair adorned with a red ribbon, and topped with a detachable faux-fur hat that’s secured with a ribbon tie. She wears red tights and a trapeze-style red felt coat that’s topstitched and finished with a contrasting faux-fur trimmed collar and cuffs. The coat is unlined and secured with two buttons and a button-and-loop closure at the neck. The loop closure is fastened, the other two are open, as my manual dexterity is lacking and those buttons are tiny. The coat has a ‘Tutti’ tag inside that is only attached on one side. Tutti has no shirt or other garments. She has quite a bit of discoloration to her body probably due to age and/or red dye transfer over many years. Please see photos. When dressed, this is not noticeable; only the fingers appear a bit blue (like mine if I go out in the cold without gloves!). Tutti’s neck, arms, back and the back of her left thigh are prominently discolored. Her back is marked ‘1965 Mattel, Inc. Japan 14’.
