Bang & Olufsen Beocentre 1500

This 70s unit is basically the popular Beomaster 901 fitted with an improved tape deck over the Beocentre 1400.. It was reported to have been used for a while and then put away for decades by its last owner.

It has been stored dry and the cosmetics are very good-not perfect- with a little veneer lifting on the rear of one side and minor scratches on the top -see photos. I have polished and waxed the wood and metal front sliders etc and it has come up really well.

I brought it back to life electrically with some switch cleaner a couple of new bulbs and the patient application of increasing mains voltage .All the key capacitors now check out fine.

Functionally it is excellent. The radio and tape deck both work as they should. The lamps all light -including stereo. The sliders and push buttons are good and not scratchy.. The amplifier inputs are Tape and Pick Up -both work fine.. Should you wish to connect an external CD Player or Bluetooth Receiver use the Tape socket.- I have tested it with my CD and it works well.

The amp output is low noise and punchy.

The tape player keys all work and the unit plays pre-recorded tapes well and records direct from the other inputs with the record function green and overload red lights functioning correctly. FF and FR run fine. It has a chrome/ ferric button depending on tape choice.

Overall a handsome piece of B&O history.

Pick up near Romsey much preferred but I will post. Note size and insurance make it a bit expensive.. Demo welcome.
