Rare Antique Swiss 13" Cylinder "Piano-Forte" Ouverture Music Box with Inlaid Lid

There is app.130 teeth on the combs, the cylinder measure 2 7/8 diameter.  Box has been completely restored and is in guaranteed perfect running order.

This antique music box plays 6 tunes beautifully.

This is a museum calibre piece from my personal collection.  It has been professionally restored.

It is referred to as an overture music box because cylinder is 2 7/8.  (or more by the way is also referred to as Ouverture).

The comb setup is piano - forte which translate to  "soft and loud".  You can hear the softer elements of the tune produced by the right smaller comb and then louder elements produced by the wider comb at left.

This is an early variation of comb setup.  I believe it might be mfg by LeCoutre but only a guess unfortunately.

When the lid is opened at left end of the case, is a winding lever you lift to add power to the spring barrel and to the right are the control levers to operate the mechanism.

If you have a question please ask.

I have very high grade merchandise that is of good value and fully restored.

Beware the poor condition music boxes all over the internet.

Any box from me will have value to other collectors and is not in need of restoration.

Ive sold 15 boxes over the last year and all my customers are pleased.

Like anything in this world you get what you pay for and “bargains are not necssarily bargains” especially in the music box collectible field.

To the left of the box you have the winding crank handle which is pulled back and forth to wind the mainspring. To the right of the box there is 2 levers one for the play/stop feature and the other to change or repeat the music. The box will continue to play the tune unless the lever is locked

All the works are protected by a glazed hinged top which is all protected by the fantastic inlaid walnut large box

Beware of music boxes listed on eBay.  Majority of them are listed as "playing well" and "sounds excellent" by other sellers.  I appreciate salesmanship but if a seller is making top dollar and beyond, shame on them, or possibly they don't know the difference but I'm showing you the difference and at fair price.

When you listen to this box play in the videos you will hear what a fine working  music box that actually does play well and sound excellent.

This link will send to video of all 8 tunes playing

I'm selling many of my father's Antique Music Boxes.  He was a very discriminating  collector over many years and only kept "special" meaning music boxes that had special sound, unusual tune arrangement and high note count.  I'm listing them and I hope you notice the difference.

I appreciate it if you do not purchase, my mother loves to hear comments of admirers.  She is quite proud of his collection.  Any of these purchased will be worthy to add to the home of beginner or advanced collector.
