The British Prog Rock Band Alan Parsons Project was active between 1975 and 1990. The core members were Eric Wollfson and Alan Parsons, who surrounded themselves with various session musicians. The Englishman Parson and the Scotsman Wolfson met in 1974 in the canteen of Abbey Road Studios. Parsons had already been active as a tone assistant at "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be" by the Beatles and had taken Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon". Wolfson, a songwriter and composer, worked as a session pianist.

"Pyramid" appeared as the third album of the app 1978 - the name comes from the many references to the Egyptian pyramids that can be found on the album.

The third studio album »Pyramid« by The Alan Parsons Project was originally published in May 1978. As with the other app albums, the focus was on a very high-quality studio sound production. "Pyramid" was a worldwide hit and achieved platinum and gold status in numerous countries, including in the USA, Germany and Canada.
