Overview
Up for auction/sale is an authentic U.S. Navy MK 15 Mod 4 Practice Bomb. This is a heavy-duty, inert training ordinance piece used to simulate a 100 lb. weight class during flight drills. It features a classic tapered body with a four-fin tail assembly and original lifting lugs.
Markings & Identification
The original white stenciling is remarkably legible on the blue casing:
• U.S. NAVY
• PRACTICE BOMB MK 15 MOD. 4
• WATER-SAND FILL
• 100 LB. DIM. CAP. 4.35 GAL. INSP.
• Manufacturer: American Electric Inc.
Condition
This item is in good vintage condition with a character-rich patina.
• Body: Solid steel construction. There is expected surface oxidation (light rust) and scuffing consistent with age and military use.
• Paint: Retains much of its original "Training Blue" finish.
• Hardware: Includes the nose plug/threading and the original side suspension lugs for mounting. The tail fins are straight with some minor edge wear.
• Status: INERT. This is a hollow steel shell designed for training purposes. It contains no explosives and never did.
