Up for sale is a stunning Technics SC-HDV600 mini-separates system in the iconic champagne gold finish. This was one of Technics' top-tier systems, designed to combine high-end home cinema with audiophile-grade music playback.
It is a "Separates" system, meaning each component is its own unit, connected by high-quality ribbon cables for superior sound.

This is a 5.1 surround sound system, and there are a few technical reasons why your center and surround speakers might be silent.
1. The Source Material
This is the most common reason. If you are listening to a CD, Radio (Tuner), or Cassette, these are "Stereo" (2-channel) sources. By default, the system will only play sound through the large Left and Right front speakers.
To hear sound from the center and surround speakers with a normal CD or Radio, you must manually activate a "Pro Logic" or "Super Surround" mode on the amplifier. Look for a button on the front panel or remote labeled Dolby Pro Logic or Surround. This "upmixes" the stereo sound to all speakers.
2. DVD Audio Settings
If you are playing a DVD:
The movie must have a Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS soundtrack.
In the DVD's own menu (the one on your TV screen), you often have to select the "5.1 Surround" audio track. If it defaults to "Stereo," the center speaker will remain silent.
The center speaker in these systems is primarily for dialogue. If you are testing it during a scene with only music or background noise, you might not hear much from the center.
3. Speaker Configuration
Check the settings on the amplifier display. There is often a "Speaker Setup" or "Channel Level" mode.
Ensure the Center Speaker is not set to "OFF" or "NONE" in the system settings.
Use the "Test Tone" function (usually found on the remote). This will send a "hissing" noise to each speaker one by one. If you hear the hiss from the center speaker during the test, the hardware is fine, and the issue is simply the "Surround Mode" setting or the movie you are watching.
