This is an antique Swiss cartel style music box from the Cartel E & A Paillard & Co., serial #36004, circa 1885. The box features an 8-1/2" brass cylinder which plays 10 airs (tunes), a hand crank, a stop/ play lever, as well as a change/ repeat lever. The original tune card is in place. The mechanical components of this piece have been professionally serviced and fully restored by the seller, Music Box Repair Center Unlimited. The restoration highlights include: repinning the cylinder, replacing the dampers, lubricating the mainspring, servicing the governor, as well as cleaning and polishing the musical cylinder. The exterior of the box is distressed, which is commensurate with it's age. The cabinet does not lock.
