Vintage 1947 Hamilton “Neil” – Early Serial Example, Serviced, New Mainspring & Crystal

A beautiful and increasingly hard-to-find early example of the Hamilton Neil, this elegant 1947 dress watch captures the refined styling that made Hamilton one of America’s premier watchmakers during the post-war era. The serial number on this example indicates it is among the earlier-produced Neil models, adding an extra layer of collectibility for Hamilton enthusiasts.

Housed in a classic 14K gold filled Wadsworth case, the watch features a warm silver dial with applied gold Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, and original gold-tone hands. The proportions wear exactly as a refined late-1940s dress watch should, offering an authentic vintage wrist presence with timeless styling.

Inside is the Hamilton caliber 747 — a U.S.-made 17 jewel manual wind movement adjusted for accuracy and finished to the high standard Hamilton was known for. The movement is exceptionally clean, with Geneva striping and gold train wheels that showcase the quality of American watchmaking from this era.

This watch has recently been serviced, including installation of a new mainspring and a new crystal. It is currently keeping good time for its vintage age, winding smoothly and setting properly.

The case presents very nicely with crisp lugs and strong gold fill remaining throughout. Condition

Recently serviced and running very well. Case shows light wear consistent with careful vintage use. Dial shows honest age and patina, including minor spotting and aging around some numerals and edge areas visible in macro photography.
