Beautiful letter opener in box. The Queens pattern handle is sterling silver with lion passant hallmark and JD&S - James Deakin and sons (Sheffield from 1866) or possibly James Dixon &sons. Probably Victorian. There are other stamps on the handle which I am unable to decipher. The blade is stamped WmHutton & Sons Sheffield and is made from stainless steel - Probably a more recent replacement. There are scratchmarks on the blade from assaying. The item is just over 19cm long and weighs 23g. It has been in the family for some time. Lined box - would make a perfect gift.
