The BeoCenter 2 was Bang & Olufsen's definitive all-in-one media hub of the 2000s — a CD, DVD, and radio source in a single low-profile unit with a design that gave nothing away from a distance. The anodised aluminium top panel is dominated by sensi-touch piezoelectric controls and a motorised oval lid: press Load, and two precision-cut sliding aluminium doors glide apart to reveal the disc transport below. When the disc is playing the doors close again, returning the unit to its clean sculptural form. The display panel adjusts its brightness automatically to the ambient light level. This is a product designed to disappear into the room and be experienced rather than looked at.
This is the DVD variant with full DAB digital radio — the rarer and more desirable BeoCenter 2 configuration. DAB requires both a specific Master Unit (serial number 18139286 or above) and the matching DAB-equipped Socket Unit; both components in this listing are the correct DAB-compatible versions. The BeoCenter 2 splits into two units: the Master Unit (the visible aluminium player) and the Socket Unit (a slim black connection box housing all the electronics and external connectors). The Socket Unit is designed to be hidden — tucked behind a television stand, under furniture, or out of sight — keeping the player itself cable-free and uncluttered.
The Master Unit is in good condition with little to no marks — a clean example of the polished aluminium and sensi-touch controls. The Socket Unit has the known degraded matte soft-touch rubber coating that affects many BeoCenter 2 units of this period. The coating is removable and this is a routine process — and since the Socket Unit is not intended to be visible in normal installation, this does not affect everyday use.
