Fender's first solid-body electric bass, the Precision Bass, was born and released in 1951. Following its success, the Precision Bass, along with the Jazz Bass, released later, continues to influence the music scene today.This particular model is a 1975 model with an ash body and maple fingerboard. It's a rare left-handed model. While ideal for left-handed bassists, it's also convenient for right-handed players, depending on the settings.[Body]The overall weight is approximately 4.9 kg. The body is made of ash. It features Fender's signature "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss" finish, which uses a polyester base. The natural finish highlights the beautiful grain of the ash. There is some overall weathering, some fading in the top coat, some sticker repair marks, dents, and other scratches, a cracked pickguard, and some dullness on the metal parts. However, considering its age, it is in relatively good condition. Metal covers are missing.[Neck]The neck is made of one piece of maple. One of the features of this left-handed model is the lack of a "PRECISION BASS" logo due to a lack of space for a decal logo. There is weather-checking on the headstock and resulting paint chipping around the tuners, a history of weather-checking repairs around the skunk stripe, paint chipping on the sides of the fingerboard, and some tarnish on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners are a little stiff but still function properly. The frets and nut have been replaced once, and while they are low overall, there is no significant wear and playability is excellent. The headstock is 15.0mm thick. The nut width is equivalent to a B-neck (41.8mm). The neck shape is distinctive.[Electronics]The neck is a simple, P-bass-like master volume/master tone control. Consumable parts such as the pot and output jack have been replaced. The pickups are set for in-field and in-phase operation. The heavy white ash body and maple neck, typical of the 1970s wood materials, produce an impressive tight low end and fast attack. It also has a distinctive compression feel that helps it maintain its definition in a band ensemble.
