Ultimate BC-250 3.9L Cooling Case MKII
MKII Version:
- Newly optimized blower fan chamber - Using airflow simulation and real testing, a different profile to the cutoff of the blower fan volute was discovered that resulted in much quieter fan noise than MKI case version, now you can only hear airflow noise instead of a fan whine.
- Full mesh rear panel - The rear panel is now full mesh instead of just a rectangular cutout, this protects the insides from foreign objects and the larger surface area allows more airflow.
- Optimized internal airflow divider - The divider has been optimized to strengthen the rear panel while also working as an airflow guide to allow exhaust through more rear panel mesh area. It also has been optimized to extract hot air from under the backplate and allow more airflow between the backplate and the board.
- Stronger rear panel - Due to the full mesh rear panel, slotting in the power switch or screwing in the PSU now has less risk of breaking the plastic as reported by some buyers.
This is a BC-250 case that has been designed for ease of use and great cooling performance. It is engineered to allow secure mounting of the BC-250 board without any screws and an airflow design that works with the heatsink's stock lateral airflow. The only screws needed are for the PS5 Slim fan and PSU. The case is printed in heat resistant PETG.
It has a sealed blower fan chamber that is contoured to direct all the air through the heatsink and also between the backplate and the board to keep both the BC-250 chip and memory cool. The BC-250 board is held in-place by compliant spring-fins that also help distribute the air more evenly through the heatsink.
Dimensions:
163mm x 79mm x 340mm
Includes:
- 1x Ultimate 3.9L BC-250 Case MKII (PETG material)
- Sets of chosen accent color grill & 2x connectors + 2x extra connectors
- PS5 fan to PC 4-pin PWM Fan adapter
What you need:
- Asrock BC-250 board
- PS5 Slim CFI-2000 cooling fan
- Better to buy new fans on Amazon.
- DO NOT BUY FOXCONN FANS. IT IS NOT WORKING WITH BC-250.
- Best performance fan is the NMB (Highest RPM)
- Regular PC Flex ATX PSU up to 165mm or Intel NUC Ghost Canyon Flex ATX PSU. Mind the thickness of the PCIe 8-pin as well.
- PSU power switch
For 24-pin ATX PSU: https://ebay.us/m/Ls11dj
This also works with the ghost canyon NUC PSU, just need to move the pins around. Photos of the stock ATX pinout and the NUC pinout is shown.
Cooling performance:
Temperatures are much better than any other BC-250 case while having lower noise levels, even better than opened fins case designs that use 120mm fans. The original heatsink is designed for lateral airflow in a mining case, and this Ultimate BC-250 case maintains that designed airflow direction while using a large quiet fan.
Recommended fan settings in the BIOS are shown for those that care about cooling performance, if you want it quieter then keeping the fan speed below 60% and not overclocking to the maximum is recommended.
At 23C room temperature on a brand new BC-250 with the NMB fan and new PTM-7950 paste clocked at 2230MHz at 1050mv, it can keep temperatures at ~70C at max fan speed in games. At a quiet fan speed of about 50% fan, it can keep temperatures at around ~85C.
Overclocking to 2400MHz 1125mv GPU, 4GHz 1350mv CPU is possible with this case. However, temperature will be over 90C and require maximum fan speed to keep below 100C. The fan will make lots of air noise at maximum speed but this case proves maximum overclock is possible with air cooling.
Your mileage may vary and due to variations in boards performance, thermal performance is not guaranteed.
Installation:
- Remove all brackets from your BC-250 and keep the screws for securing the PS5 fan
- Install your PSU power switch threading the cable through the cutout
- Thread PS5 fan cable through the hole and gap in the blower housing, and then secure PS5 fan using screws from BC-250 brackets
- Slide your BC-250 board into the PSU side of the case
- Screw in FlexATX PSU to the case using regular PC PSU screws
- Plug in 8-pin PCIe power connector of BC-250 to PSU
- Plug the PS5 to PC 4-pin PWM adapter to the PS5 fan and BC-250 board
- Slide both parts of the case together, making sure no cables are pinched
- Clip in the side connectors to secure both sides of the case together
- Snap in the fan grill
- Enjoy the best designed BC-250 case ever!
