From my silver coin collection I
have for sale a 2022 sterling silver proof 1oz Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II.
2022 marks a significant year in British
history, The Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen. Since her coronation in
1953, she has carried out her duties with the unwavering dedication which she
pledged in a national televised speech to the British nation. The Platinum
Jubilee is an event which may not be seen again for many generations to come.
The design of this 5 pound Silver Proof coin features the edge inscription,
"Serve You All The Days of My Life" which was inspired by Her
Majesty's first Christmas message in 1952. The coin is
accompanied by a booklet that reveals how coinage portraits have
charted The Queen’s growth from a newly crowned queen to an experienced monarch
The
reverse features
a beautifully decorative design inspired by the royal mantle or robe (which was used on the coinage of William
IV), worn by Her Majesty at her coronation in 1953 The
obverse bears the commemorative Platinum Jubilee portrait
of The Queen on horseback designed
by John Berdahl.
The coin is .925 purity of silver, measures
38.61mm in diameter, weighs 0.84 ounce and has a mintage of only 5,000 with a
unique COA numbered 1543.
Something I have never seen on
any coin is attached to this coin that makes it a collectors piece and
multiplies its’ value 10 fold. There is what appears to be a quality control
sticker on the capsule by the Royal mint. It is of course an error as the Royal
mint never checks any of the coins it churns out (in my opinion). I have left
the sticker on so feel free to auction it separately at Sotheby’s.
